Lake Puckaway
History
It hasn't been dredged in recent
history . Cargo barges plied the river and lakes all the way
to Portage where they could access the Wisconsin River via
" portage " . Later a canal was dug to eliminate the
necessity to portage . The river and lakes were dredged to
facilitate the passage of the barges . The only lock in
operation today is at Eureka .
I really Do not know Much about Lake
Puckaway's
History so if you know how it was started or what it
looked like before it became a lake it would be great.
